Being Self-Employed = Rewards

I'm an Independent business owner (IBO) of AVON, I'm a Realtor for Keller Williams Realty, I'm a virtual call center representative for 2 companies,oh yeah, did I mention that I am also an IBO for Amway?

I also had a business selling adult novelties and lingere. I started that business last summer and it only lasted a couple of months. I didn't feel I had the personality for that business.

I also feel the same about my Amway business; however I do intend to maintatin that business soley for discount purposes. I love Amway's vitamins for women!

I enjoy owning my own businesses. One of the greatest perks about working as an IBO is that you have the opportunity to plan your own work schedule.

I must admit that I am busier now than I was before I exited Corporate America; however I enjoy what I do and I don't feel as though I am working.

I wish everyone was afforded the opportunity to do the work that brings them joy! It's truly a rewarding experience!

Being Busy Does Not Always Equate to Being Productive

What am I doing in the house on the first, beautiful, sunny day in the Detroit,Michigan area this year? It's the first day of this year in which no coat, jacket, or outer wear is required. It's currently 77 degrees outside and it looks and feels amazing!

I suppose you can say that I'm multi-tasking. I'm posting to my blog in between calls as a virtual call center representative. In the mean time, I was texting a new AVON recruit to provide her with instruction on how to get her AVON website up and running.

I started my day by conducting real estate business at the office, which I eventually brought home to work on. Boy! There's never a dull moment in my life. -

I enjoy being busy, but what I have concluded is that being busy doesn't necessarily mean that I am being productive. I already have an established clientele with AVON, so that it what I should be persuing in order to persue finances while establishing myself as a rookie real estate agent.

Maybe perhaps I'll start posting ads on Craig's list for AVON and real estate customers. The only challenge I have with that is that every post I have put on Craig's List regarding AVON has been deleted.

Is there anyone out there who can tell me what I can do to post to Craig's List effectively? I look forward to comments or suggestions with this matter. Thanks!

Have Balance When Working from home

Today I have nothing to blog about except for wanting to go to sleep. Word of caution to any mother out there who works from home, or either has the desire to work from home...Allow yourself time to unwind and create balance.

Working as a Virtual Call Center Rep

Possessing customer service skills and or call center experience are very valuable skills to have in order to maintain a business as a virtual call center representative.

The skills and knowledge I've acquired at my previous employer have proven to be invaluable skills, which have made it possible for me to work for myself as a virtual call center representative.

My theory is, "Why work for someone else, when you have an opportunity to work for yourself?" Working for yourself allows you the freedom and the flexibility to schedule your work around your life instead of scheduling your life around your work.

For instance, I woke up this morning and worked a couple of hours before taking my daughter to dance class. After leaving dance class, we met with my her cousin and her mom for a play date at Jungle Java.

After returning from our play date, I assisted my daughter with her homework and spent some quality time with her. I then prepared dinner, which was done approximately 5 minutes before my shift for the evening started.

I prepared my daughter's dinner plate as well as mine and headed upstairs to work. I finished my dinner a few minutes prior to receiving a call. My daughter was able to spend an entire day with me and I din't have to make any child care arrangements for her.

I was also able to call one of my real estate clients to follow-up on a message he left for me earlier today.

I will return to work a few more shifts this evening simply because I want to and not because I have to. I created my own schedule today based on what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it.

Today I was able to accomplish everything I wanted to accomplish. Freedom is priceless. Can somebody please tell me why I didn't think to do this sooner in life?

It really is a breeze to be a work from home mum. Because I have my own online business I can work when I want to work not when someone else tells me to. This means that I will often work when my son is at school so that I can spend quality time with him and watch him grow up.

I first started working from home when I went to university as I soon realised that I had no choice if I wanted to leave university debt free which I soon did!

I started off playing the eBay game, starting by selling unwanted goods on eBay and this soon turned into a real business venture that was earning me money every day of the week.

Though after a while I realised that with what I had to pay in eBay fees it was no longer worth the cost that I was shelling out to the biggest online auction site!

So before long it had gone from being a bit of fun to starting a proper website business. At first I realised that if I wanted the amount of websites that I craved there would be a lot of hours of hard work involved in it. So it went from a bit of fun to a lot of work and I built my business up very quickly.

The hours though weren't always fun to begin with because I was establishing myself I would often start at 9.30am in a morning after dropping my son off at school and I would work until school finished just after three in the afternoon. Then I would spend time with my son, cook dinner with him and then once he was in bed it was back to work. I would then  work right through to 4am and then collapse in bed.

If I was working for an employer there is no way on this earth that I would have worked this many hours as a work from home mum but I was creating a future for our family which is what counted most of all. Plus I find when you work very hard on your business you appreciate the income that it brings you and you don't take for granted what you have earned and achieved from it.

I probably worked two years like this building my business up from scratch after spending about $20 on the original set up for it. But now I can work part time and enjoy as much family time as I like and if I hadn't put in the effort in the early days I wouldn't be in this position now.

There are plenty of joys to becoming a work from home mum and I would never give it up for anything now as I love my work and family set up.

Motherhood As My Motivation

One of my dreams is to share information with all the mothers of the world who embrace the idea of working from home and spending more quality time with their families.

As most of us already know, a balanced life makes a happy life. When you have balance, you are more energetic, optimistic and more in control of your life. One of the worst feelings I have ever experienced as a mother, was when I had to leave my baby to someone else to care for her. I felt like she was my child and my responsibility. I didn’t want anyone else to nurture and raise my daughter.

At 8 weeks old, my daughter was taken to a home daycare as I returned back to my corporate employer. I cried more the weekend before I returned to work, than my 8 week old daughter did within the 8 weeks in which she was born.

Eventually the day care provider did not meet my expectations, so I asked my mother to take care of my baby. As time went on, my baby went through her phases of normal infant development. I was constantly getting reports of her new discoveries and developments.

My baby took her first steps when she was 9 months old. She was with my mother at the time and naturally she couldn’t wait until the weekend when I would be home to witness that precious moment. She wanted to walk during the week, so that I could hear about it through the grapevine.

I’ve waited for what seemed like an eternity to be able to experience motherhood, yet I was missing out on the complete experience. I wanted badly to assume the position of a stay at home mom. I envisioned myself working from home with my baby on my lap.

I didn’t believe I had the ability to achieve my work at home mom dreams, until I was able to wittness one of my best girlfriends work from home, as her daughter attended kindergarten.

My friend found work as an independent business owner as a virtual call center representative. She has been fortunate enough to be with her daughter for the past 4 years.

I could have been doing the same as she, yet I was complacent and afraid to leave my 9-5 with great pay, seniority, and great benefits.

I wasn’t happy doing the work I did, yet I stay because of the need for a steady pay check and benefits.

Now 5 years later, I have found work at home opportunities to assist me in being more assessable to my daughter. Currently I’m a licensed real estate agent for the State of Michigan., Now I too run my own independent business as a virtual call center representative, in addition to that, in addition to all the other things previously mentioned, I also am an Independent sales representative for AVON Products, Inc.

My daughter is now in the kindergarten, we are extremely close and she is the light of my life! She has been my constant motivation in finding ways to be the Mommy I really desire to be.
